Plum dumplings…or ”Găluște cu prune”(Gomboti)

Plum dumplings

Ingredients
  

  • 600 g potato

  • plums

  • 1 cup breadcrumbs.

  • 1 cup plain flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar

  • 1 egg
  • 3-4 Tbsp lard or oil

  • salt, cinnamon (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Boil the potatoes with the peel and add a little salt to the water. When they are boiled we peel and crush them as if they were pearly, then let them cool.


  • During this time, we put in a large pot of boiling water and add a pinch of salt. We also prepare the crumb, in a pan we put 1-2 tablespoons of oil to the heat, add the crumb and sugar and leave on low heat until slightly dark, stirring constantly.

  • In a bowl mix the mash with flour, egg, lard (oil) and knead well until it becomes a dough. The obtained composition extends on a flat surface and is cut into squares.

  • Prepare the plums: remove the pips and in the middle put a little sugar and optionally cinnamon.
  • In each cut square, put a plum, wrap and shape like a ball.

  • When the water boils, the ''balls''(Gomboti) are added, let them boil until they rise to the surface, and leave them for another 1 minute. Then we remove them and tray them through the fried breadcrumb.

Notes

They can be served with cream or yogurt. Enjoy!
